My understanding is that the Hydra base emits a magnetic field, the Hydra wands read it, and the software uses those readings to calculate position and rotation relative to the base.

Now, say my Hydra base for some reason did not emit a magnetic field (say I modified the hardware). However, my wife sitting next to me has a Hydra plugged into her computer (not mine). Can my Hydra wands still pick up the magnetic field from her Hydra base, and have my computer calculate position and rotation relative to that?
