Armed & Dangerous (7DFPS)- Now with Hydra Support

I spent the weekend integrating the Razer Hydra motion controllers into our 7DFPS game. Where before you had to clumsily have to use gamepad controls, you can now control the arms and hands freely! It's still very early days, but it already feels promising.

I'll probably polish the code up and make it available here at some point. More games need to use this thing.

Great work! It almost looks like a new game with the Hydra support You should have stacked or thrown some stuff using the Hydra in that video.

Are you going to add Hydra support for Volo ?

Edit: I just saw the epic rock climbing

    Heya Danny, thanks!

I tried throwing some blocks around, but I currently have a problem with the arm physics meaning that they are really unsuited to carrying and throwing stuff. I'll try and tune the setup to be more stable so I can do all those things.

I'm definitely thinking about ways to get the Hydra into Volo. If I can get the rock climbing stable enough that would be a great addition, and I also see ways to use the controllers for canopy control. Oh, and climbing along the side of the airplane before making your exit, and... so many things.

Funilly enough I'm still unsure how it would work for actually controlling freefall/wingsuit flight, but I might come up with something yet.

Oh, and thanks again for fixing the threading issue in the SDK. Works like a charm now.

I managed to increase the stability for the arms. In this video: throwing objects, and swinging from trapezes.

    Hello Tinus,

I would like to know, if you could be so kind to share what you have learned and perhaps a demo scene in a Unity project, to learn a little bit how to manage the physics with hydra.

    Thanks a lot in advance.
