range is really the only disapointment for me

I think hydra can totally compete with a mouse, when you use ratcheting, and don't use the freelook mode like in portal where you have a latency in the movements.
Unfortunely the jitter make this mode difficult to use.

I press a buton to control the look, it's also the opposite of the default in the configurator.
On this subject i think maybe there could be a a better solution to ratchet with a pressure sensitive surface that would grab the view when you tend to press the controler more in your hand.
because ratcheting with the thumb makes difficult to use the other buttons.

Also if we have to use our thumb to ratchet, i think there should be a special button with a special shape, a bit bigger than the others. On the wiimote there is a big A button that is in a more obvious location.

If you need additional inputs, among other things you could have 4 additional buttons, two for the ring finger and two for the little finger; on each pair one you press with the tip of the finger and the other with the middle/base, in case it is too hard to avoid pressing both at once each pair could be made so that pressing two at the same time is not possible, kinda like a rocker switch or perhaps a seesaw for example, or even add a strong spring on the middle so that if you squeeze it harder you can press both at once while still avoiding accidentally doing that (kinda like a 5 way dpad that doesn't got vertical directions; well, that makes it more like a 3 way i guess).

Most of the 3D sound demos you get fool people because they are actually making you listed to both front and rear sounds in the same session. The good old demo of having a chopper flying around the actor is the perfect example. In game you usually don't have the luxury of a reference so any new sounds especially when there's a lot of action in the scene will probably end up very difficult to pinpoint. That in combination with having to move you character rather than just your head for confirmation, which you do automatically, just doesn't make me a fan of headphones.

I'll never forget playing Stalker in 5.1, you really want to cr** yourself as you can almost feel those monsters on your heels.

Anyways, not going to start a 3D sound, headphone/speaker debate . Just giving my 2c from a surround sound speaker gamer. Would it be worth adding a traducer on the control, logic tells me NO as most consumers would not miss it in least.
The problem with surround-sound speakers is mic-trash for your teammates: I much prefer ACTUAL surround-sound headphones, with multiple speakers per cup... this then doesn't transmit background sound over your mic, which is a PLAGUE on team games. (Hard to find good multiple-speaker-per-cup headphones, but when you do, they are much better calibrated "out of the box" than the typical multi-speaker setup with different seating postions, etc... I'm currently using Trittons, but you have to check to be sure you're getting their actual multi-speaker model and not "emulation.")

Also, re the Move: both Killzone 3 and Socom 4 were AWESOME Move games... much superior to the Wii's tracking BECAUSE of the Z-position cues of the lighted ball....

I've had no troubles whatsoever with my modified Hydra. I love how the magnets pull the controllers in the base as I dock them, but mostly I love how they stay docked

I don't have any insight into that, it may not have ever been a concept.

Maybe I should mod my Hydra Base too. My warranty's almost up, and I've never had to RMA it before.

Hey, is it possible to modify the bumpers(Not Triggers)? I want to see if I can add a spring in it and try to give it some feedback.
