    Hydra Issues

When I change any of the sensitivity settings, they reset to default every time.

After a period of time, the Hydra stops responding at all, and I have to reboot the system to get it back. I think it has to do with the the system going into standby.

I use the Wii motion sensor on shooters all of the time but the Hydra seems much harder and less intuitive to move around with. My wrists and hands ache after playing for a while. This seems to be because I am holding my hands in unnatural positions to change my view, turn corners, etc. Am I doing something wrong?

The cursor is not steady and is not fast or accurate enough, and I am getting crushed in Battlefield Bad Company 2 multiplayer...the only electronic device near the base is the HP 2310m monitor, about 6 inches away.

When I first plugged the Hydra in, Windows 7 downloaded a driver automatically and I have a tool in the control panel to calibrate etc, but it does not work; it will not pick up any Hydra motion.

I also am having trouble with crouch (always going into by accident), melee (can never get the gesture just right, I usually reload or something) and jump to a lesser degree...being able to map these to buttons would probably make for a better experience.

    Stryder,

Sounds to me like you may have interference. If you lay the controller on it's side with the cursor in the center of the screen does it stay still? If it is shaking when the controller is not moving then something in your play environment is interfering.

The best way to troubleshoot this is to start turning things off one by one. Or move the Hydra base and controllers to another position to see if the cursor steadies.

i moved the unit further away from my monitor and it does seem steadier....still just awful play Battlefield Bad Company....running is a problem, as I keep crouching by accident and I cant slash at all...jumping is not working that well for me... I need the option to map these things to buttons........

Did you try just going to the keyboard and mapping the buttons? You can also change it by going into the control files, but from the looks of things I would think you could just change the controls in game just like you would a keyboard. Gestures included.

    Yes, it is still.

ugh, tried the Hydra some more with Bad Company...completely owned... I still play better with mouse/keyboard.. (and I am quite good with Wii motion on Call of Duty) (no where near an apples for apples comparison, I realize)

If when the controller is still, the cursor in game is still then you likely do not have any interference and are seeing the jitter from your hand itself. They Hydra is a totally different control method from the mouse and uses a different set of muscles so there is learning curve.

Ratcheting is also a concept new to all players, I'd suggest if possible practice on a campaign in an FPS or in a bot game till you're more comfortable.

We're working on videos specifically designed to help people learn the best ways to play FPS games with the Hydra right now. Hopefully these can help.

I decided to download Portal 2 and give that a whirl... I am sure I will enjoy the native support a ton!

I also can't wait until Left for Dead has direct support..I will purchase it immediately!

Native support and backwards compatibility are two different beasts, but the MotionCreator can be a lot of fun, don't give up yet . Enjoy Portal 2.

whilst playing team fortress 2 i found effective ratcheting is best done often so you can recenter your right hand back to the screen as fast as possible even if its a light change to pan / tilt of the view.
