Got Hydra yesterday, only works with portal 2

I got my hydra yesterday and played some Portal 2. I downloaded the razer drivers and configurator, confirmed its set to motion controls, but launching Left 4 Dead 2 the controls did nothing. I've tried many times restarting different games, plugging and unplugging the controllers, but I never even get the popup to calibrate the controllers (as I did in portal 2). I understand that it is also supposed to work as a mouse in windows with button 4 on right held down, but it does not do this either. None of the buttons have any functioning either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. It's really frustrating to spend so much money on something and immediately have to devote fruitless hours of your own time googling solutions just to get it to do anything at all.

Do you see the "Razer Hydra" icon in the systray? If you double click it do you see the Game Configuration panel? What operating system are you running? You won't necessarily see anything asking you to point the controllers, but you should be able to turn on mouse mode in windows by clicking the right 4 button (don't hold it).

Try making sure it works on the windows desktop first. Startup your computer with the controllers resting on the base station. After bootup, pickup the controllers and you might have to press 4 on right controller before it starts responding. I think I may have also had to press 1 in some games to make it respond as well.

Ok, I just tested that twice in Left 4 Dead and I did indeed have to press 1 on the right controller before the mouse cursor would move in the menu. Pressing 4 alone would not get it to move. Also, Gamepad control in Left 4 Dead should be set to "Disabled" if you want the left analog stick to work.

Hope that helps. Left 4 Dead 2 is fun with the Hydra. But I can't wait for the sixense guys to release the mod they've showed off in the videos.
