Hi,
I purchased a Razer Hydra that did not include a copy of Portal 2 (it must've be an older packaged version), and I also own Portal 2 already yet I am not able to download the DLC for the sixense motionpack on Steam. Can someone please help me with this? I will be happy to give you the hardware serial# of my Razer Hydra to show proof of ownership. Thanks.

Umm... the Hydra has always came with Portal 2. Where did you buy yours?

Ummm.....Fry's Electronics and no mine didn't come with it. It does not have an ad on the front of the box like the other one's do.

Can you post a photo of the package and contents?

Here's what my Hydra came with: the Controllers and Base, Box, Quick Start Guide, Important Information, and the Letter from Razer Guy. No Portal 2 codes or ads on the box or anything else.

I've thought about taking this thing back, but my unit works great and I'm reluctant to take something back that works perfectly in fear of getting a lemon (especially with such sensitive hardware), and I don't really need the Portal 2 game as I already own it on Steam (unless I wanted to gift it). I just want the DLC so I can see how this thing works when programmed natively for a game.

Well are there any sixense people that can offer help here? I just bought this thing a few days ago and would like to know the best avenue of proceeding here? a) Can you get me a key for the DLC?, b) should I take this back and get one that comes WITH Portal 2 and the DLC?, or c) Contact Razer. Please advise.

If it's a physical store you could try going there and asking to exchange everything but the hardware itself.

Though perhaps they intentionally stripped away the free game 'cause it competes with the physical game boxes they got for sale there? I've heard of similar situations before...

Yeah I'll do that if I must to get the code, but I'm the kind of guy that values what my time is worth ($/hour). I can spend all that time getting this thing boxed up and hauled back to the store waiting through lines or a Sixense Admin/Rep could come on here and give me some positive advice that could possibly eliminate the need for that since I *have* a working product in hand and I'm so far a satisfied customer with the product. That saves Razer and Sixense time (= money) of having to mess with defunct returned hardware, since that is exactly what the store will do with the hardware since it appears I have an incomplete item.

By the looks of that picture somebody peeled off the portal 2 sticker from the top left corner. A higher res picture would be needed to confirm. I don't want to imply anything but by the looks of it the store you brought it from took the key out of the box, resealed it and scrapped the sticker.

As far as my knowledge goes I do not think there is any retail Hydra that doesn't include the game. Maybe Sixense could confirm?

Sixense also provided a cd-key for the DLC in the past, so if you only want the DLC then maybe they could save you of all the hassle of reporting the store and such ?
Look here: http://www.sixense.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=835

Funny thing is I had also happened to receive a re-sealed box, broke down and not until I got a brand new one did I realize that the first one had been tampered with. It still had the Portal 2 code in it though.

It looks like that may be the case.

I just want to get my full product here, by means that are appropriate.

If that is the case then I suggest you try going to the store and give them a chance to fix this unpleasant event. If they refuse, try finding out what they are doing with the codes, if they are selling them separately then using that evidence open a case with your local consumer protection service.

You may also find your invoice useful, if on it the DLC is not mentioned, you can also use that as proof that they have withheld your software. As far as Sixense is concerned I do not believe there is much they can do, except, with proper evidence, have Razer sue the store for breaking the reseller agreement, if there is such a document.

This reminds me of the Gamestop scam they were pulling. Copies of Deus Ex were stripped of their OnLive code in some stores, and customers noticed. Here's the link

I highly doubt that Fry's was trying to pull off a Gamestop. Maybe your package came shipped without the code? Sometimes it happens, like when some video games are shipped without a manual. New product, old problems. It's common in many things.

Okay I went ahead and just took my item back to Fry's and had it exchanged for another and this time an untampered box. I got tired of waiting for what looked like an uncertain resolution. At any rate, my new product works identical to the other one, which is what I'm always a little nervous about: returning what is a fully working and satisfying product just to get a code. Now Razer has to deal with a returned item that is neutered yet fully works.

Oh and BTW-I'm totally blown away by this product. Accuracy of a mouse from the couch, amazing.

lol, I was just pm'ing you a MotionPack code :). I'm glad you got this sorted out the right way though. Sorry you had to deal with that.

Perhaps they deliberately deprived of the free game "reason, which is where they sell a physical game box competition? I've heard of similar situations.
