Hi guys, I recently installed the windows 8 developer preview on a pc, however the driver (not support software)
which should download from Microsoft, does not seem to exist in the windows 8 repository. Seeing as this OS is backwards compatible with any windows 7 software, could you please provide an download of the offline driver ?

You should install the Razer Driver (http://www.razersupport.com/index.php?_m=downloads&_a=view&parentcategoryid=181&pcid=166&nav=0,166)

Yes I already did, however the install did not update any driver, and my controller still isn't recognized in device manager.

Are these the correct hardware ids for the hydra: USB\VID_1532&PID_110D&REV_0300 ? I'm thinking that they may have been altered and because of that windows can't find a driver for it.
btw the link to razer is for the support software, and does not seem to contain an actual driver (.inf and .sys file usually). Because you don't need to have the razer driver in order to play portal 2 with motion tracking, the driver is obtained from windows update, the razer software serving only for non supported games.

Windows is not finding a driver for the Hydra because the Hydra does not use a driver. Does it show up in Devices & Printers?
What is your problem? Portal 2 not working? MotionCreator games not working?

Ok I never really knew devices could work without a driver, maybe not a custom driver but a generic one ?
Anyway the problem is as such: Hydra plugged in, shows in device manager as an unknown device, and does not appear at all under devices and printers in control panel as you can see here. Portal2, Motion SDK, Razer Driver do not detect it as being even connected.
This is how it looks like: http://db.tt/93jLvXhU

We are downloading Win 8 now and will be looking into it shortly.
EDIT:
We just got the Win 8 Dev Preview (64bit) running on a machine and haven't had any problems getting the Hydra working. We installed the Razer Hydra Configurator and it seemed to work fine immediately.
When we first plugged in the Hydra (before downloading the Configurator) it even popped up with a message that said "Installing Razer Hydra driver" and even had a picture of the Hydra.
Where did you get your copy of Win8? Are you running 32 or 64bit?

Thank you for looking into it. I am using the x64 version of Windows 8 Developer Preview downloaded from the Microsoft website. I'm using the one which includes the developer tools. found here:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/apps/br229516
Also given the fact that you are having no problems installing it I'm beginning to think that sometime during when I reinstalled windows the hydra may have broke. Also the light is a solid green and doesn't pulse. I will test it on a win7 machine and get back to you an that.
Edit: Well it is not recognized on win7 either, which means that somehow it broke. Oh well thanks for all your support I RMA it as soon as possible, given that it was purchased from a local retailer.

Sorry to hear that your Hydra broke somehow. We got TF2 with the Hydra running on Win 8 with no problems.
We would love to hear about any problems you run into with the Hydra while using Win 8 so we can try to debug it asap.
For reference: We are running Win 8 Dev Preview without the dev tools (x64) from MSDN.
