Okay, so I got my Hydra today and I decided I would play Bioshock 2 first. So I download the Drivers for the Hydra, do what it asks about "point the controllers at the base" and what not. I start up Bioshock 2 and I play through. At first I had pretty bad jittering, so I moved the hydra closer and that fixed it. Well then I started having issues with random jumping, random weapon changing and when I try to rapidly fire a weapon by pulling the right trigger rapidly, it won't fire (this is the biggest problem). If I pull the right trigger in a rather slow consistent manner, it will fire but if I pull the trigger rapidly trying to fire off rounds in quick succession (such as avoiding recoil from the machine gun) it won't fire at all.

So what my question is, why does the weapon changing and random jumping and crouching happen and how do I fix it? Does the base have to be on a flat surface and does it have to stay in the same position from when I oriented it? Also, the biggest problem, is my right trigger broken or what? Why won't it work when I rapidly pull it?

I will also mention that I have done every troubleshooting technique mentioned in the PDF. I made sure the cables were plugged in completely, I made sure the axis was lined up properly and so on and so forth. Please help.

Btw, I'm using a laptop and my OS is Windows 7 64-bit. I'm tried unplugging the laptop also and still to no avail fixing the random swapping.

Hi Sleign,

All angles registered with the base are relative TO the base. Therefore, if you have the base tilted in pitch or horizontal axes, it registers your controllers and being tilted in the opposite of that direction. If you were to tilt your bases nose downward it would read that you're tilting your controllers upward, thus causing jump to trigger all the time.

This said, if you have metal around the base area it can cause what we call bending, a distortion in the field which can cause misreadings and unintended gestures.

Does this trigger issue happen regardless of which controller you use in your right hand? If it happens with only one of the controller's triggers I suggest a retail exchange as you may have a failing trigger.

Weapons in Bioshock 2 are tilt left and right gestures. If the base is rotated horizontally on axis with you it should be the same tilt left to swap and it is tilt right. If it's off axis these angles will be different, one will be too easy and one will be too hard to reach.

Use this video to set up your axis:

I'll play Bioshock 2 right now to check on this rapid fire issue though to be sure, that's one of the few I didn't personally play.

Okay, thank you. I was pretty sure that the swapping was caused by the very slight tilt caused by sitting on my couch while I played but I wanted to make sure. I guess I'll move to a table. Thanks for checking out if the rapid fire issue is just Bioshock 2 or not. I'll try rapid firing with the left trigger and I'll report what I find in Bioshock 2.

Edit: I remapped "Fire Weapon" in Bioshock 2 to my left trigger and it fires just fine, looks like I have to send it back for a new one. However, I do have one thing to ask. The only way this Hydra doesn't have a jittering cursor is if my hydra controllers are right up beside the hydra, within 6 inches or so. Otherwises it jitters like crazy even being 1.5-2 feet away. Possibly a broken base also? However I did fix the random weapon switching and jumping/crouching by placing the base on a level surface, works like a dream now, just need the jittering even at only 1-2 feet to stop and need to get the right trigger fixed and we are good.

Any idea if the base is also messed up? I have to hold the controllers within 6 inches of the base for the jittering to stop. I have no metal near the base either.

Unless you are receiving interference from something in your play environment you shouldn't have to keep the controllers that close. I'd suggest laying the controller down so you can watch the cursor while you unplug powered devices around you.
