L.S.

So, the Hydra has been out for a month now. I have to say I really love the tech. Great precision, greatly superior to what we have seen on wii, ps3 and xbox360 so far. Here is my serious point of concern though...

In the month this has been on the market, I have not come across the hydra in general media once.. and that is no lie. There has been nothing on IGN and gamespot. No ads, no articles on well visited sites and no general buzz altogether.
Seriously, either you lot or Razer NEEDS to get a positive hype off the ground or sixense motion tech will slowly be dragged into the "lost and forgotten" pit. Honestly, a serious waste for some great tech with great potential. (not to mention a waste of my own hard earned money. (and yours))

Related to this is something else. With the hydra came a nice version of portal with special features for sixense motion tech. Great, I liked it and it gave me an idea of what can be done with the Hydra. The support for some other games was nice, but didn't add up to the general experience so mutch. The game was still the same, only with different, often not that suitable controls. My general fear is that, just like in the direction of the consumer market, the promotion has been less then adequate. Meaning, no company is either aware or interested that they can start development of games with sixense motion technology.
It would be a serious let down if all we are ever going to see of the hydra's potential is a modded portal. The constant lack of any announcement that more games with specific Hydra features are in development makes me worry.

I am afraid that a lack of content for the hydra is going to drive this nice innovation right into the "forget me" bin. Without some serious marketing both to gamers and game developers, this will not end well.
I'd hate to see this potential (and my money) wasted because of a lack of attention, while I am sure there is a market for this. (motion control on consoles if booming, so there must be interest on the pc market as well)
I really hope to see more content for the Hydra soon, and not in the form of alternative controls for existing games, but in games specially made with precise motion technology in mind.
With good marketing everyone is going to want to have a Hydra! Get it out there so companies will have a serious community to develop games for, only then will this become the future of pc gaming.

Yours,
Concerned customer/fan.

Thanks for the letter! You obviously understand a lot about the industry, a new controller is all about the games support. We feel the MotionCreator provides a ton of fun stuff to play around with but understand that direct support is what sells controllers. We're not ready to make any specific announcements yet but hang in there and you'll see some exciting news in the coming months!

Thanks for the answer. Looking forward to further developments.
Keep up the amazing work and thanks for your time reading my concerns.
Back to splinter cell now which is for me the game where I enjoy my hydra most. (apart from portal off course :))

We're all listening, and understand your concerns. You may see some developments in the near future. The release is still in it's infancy. :)

Here is an idea, get a bunch of PC indie developers together to create exclusive games for the Hydra. If not complete games, then you could have them do similar to the Potato Sack ARG Valve did for the Portal 2 release, where the indie developers made bonus Portal 2 themed levels for their games.

Indie developers are the most imaginative section of the PC industry at the moment, so I could see them creating something incredibly unique that would only be possible with the Hydra. They also have a lot of ardent fans, which would look very closely at anything they produce.
